Today’s college students are at the heart of the abortion battle.
Forty-six percent of all abortions are performed on college-aged women. It is on our nation’s college campuses where women and men need to hear the truth of abortion in order to save lives.
In addition, today’s student pro-lifers are the pro-life movement’s future generation of leaders and activists and yet, historically, have been an overlooked sector of pro-life activity.
Students for Life of America (SFLA) works to provide students, from high school to graduate school, with the resources they need to save lives and abolish abortion on their campuses and throughout the nation.
In 2006, SFLA launched its Pro-Life Field Program which is dedicated to helping establish and grow pro-life groups on every college campus in the United States. Every semester, SFLA Field Agents work with students, both in-person and remotely, to start new pro-life groups and keep those groups active. In addition to our Pro-Life Field Program, SFLA team members travel the country every semester training students and adults at regional pro-life student conferences and training seminars.
Since SFLA hired its full-time staff in August of 2006, Students for Life of America has started over 300 new campus pro-life groups, growing the number of active pro-life groups from 181 in August of 2006 to 523 in May of 2010. There are now Students for Life groups in 48 states. In 2010, SFLA sold out its national conference for the 2nd year in row, making the SFLA National Conference the largest pro-life youth conference in the world.
In addition to training and activism, Students for Life of America has been voice for Life in many national debates since 2006. In 2009 and 2010, SFLA was one of the top pro-life leaders fighting against President Obama’s taxpayer-funded abortion health care plan, co-founding the Stop the Abortion Mandate Coalition.
Students for Life of America continues to grow its presence on campuses and nationally.
