Students for Life of America and Students for Live Action call on President Trump to Move Quickly with an Appointment, in light of Justice Ginsburg’s tragic death

SFLA & SFLAction stands ready with Nationwide Network of Millennials to work for the next #Justice4Life

“Justice Ginsburg’s tragic passing makes it clear just how important the U.S. Supreme Court is,” said SFLA’s Kristan Hawkins. “President Trump must move quickly to nominate someone committed to protecting life in law, fulfilling his promise to appoint judges who don’t see the Constitution as a fill-in-the-blank document.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (09-18-2020) – In light of news that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg  has passed away, Students for Life Action and Student for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins said that the vacancy shows the importance of this pivotal election. “Justice Ginsburg’s tragic passing makes it clear just how important is the U.S. Supreme Court. The pro-life movement has been waiting since 1973 to reverse the callous and intellectually bankrupt decisions found in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. Those two infamous cases have made the deaths of more than 60 million baby boys and baby girls possible and allowed a predatory abortion industry to end life through all 9 months of pregnancy.”

During the last two Supreme Court vacancies, SFLA’s #Justice4Life tours went all across the country, advocating for justice who want to protect life in law. Students for Life of America launched student tours, rallies, and lobby days in key states, asking Senators to support nominees in the tradition of Justice Antonin Scalia.

“Our students will be ready to again tackle the ground game of supporting of a Supreme Court justice who puts the law first,” said SFLA President Kristan Hawkins. “President Trump must move quickly to nominate someone committed to protecting life in law, fulfilling his promise to appoint judges who don’t see the Constitution as a fill-in-the-blank document.”

“Too often, activist judges have taken control away from voters on issues that should be returned to the states where people can have a voice and a vote. And as we illustrated in our poll, 65 percent of Millennials – who make up the nation’s largest voting bloc – want a chance to vote on life-related policy.”

Over the course of the summer before Justice Kavanaugh was confirmed, Students for Life staff and student leaders tirelessly traveled across the country on a #Justice4Life tour, holding more than 50 events in 5 key states, though students engaged in other states as well. SFLA toured with five wrapped vans in West Virginia, Indiana, Missouri, North Dakota, and Alaska where we met with Senate offices in each of these states (and more) to push for the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh. Since then, SFLA has been on Capitol Hill, and encouraged students from our more than 1,220 groups in all 50 states to make their voices heard in favor of a Supreme Court where life is respected in law.
