Last month, the Battle Ground school district in Washington made the right decision by keeping Planned Parenthood’s curriculum out of their schools. This comes after the recent push by Planned Parenthood to have schools adopt their “comprehensive sex ed” which is nothing more than a ploy to sell more abortions through many states.
Earlier this year, a lawmaker there brought forward a bill that would mandate this “curriculum” statewide, which failed in the legislature. Though the bill failed, that has not stopped Planned Parenthood from attempting to push their extremist ideologies on youth by targeting individual school districts. In the Battle Ground School District, this has been going on for just over a year, but has finally culminated in the last month.
On October 14th, the school board had a discussion on whether they should implement Planned Parenthood sex ed. What proceeded was over an hour of testimony, which for the most part was to advocate against Planned Parenthood’s extremism. Their objections arose from what material would be covered from different sex methods, sex toys, and even how to get an abortion without a parent’s knowledge.
The parents and advocates who showed up against sex ed had every right to be concerned, because Planned Parenthood’s business is abortion and they shouldn’t be allowed to a direct line to vulnerable young people.
Even in the face of the opposition, the school board still approved it following its first reading. The most ironic part? Every person who voted to push the bill through was a man. The lone nay vote was a woman. However, in the next meeting, they dropped the curriculum and the requirement for sex ed in Battle Ground schools on a narrow but key vote.
Proponents of the action to implement sex ed felt it was necessary to ensure education around consent to lower sexual assault. That’s admirable, right? Our only question is: if you want women to not have to experience the trauma of sexual assault, why in the world would you have Planned Parenthood, who has been caught protecting rapists and sex traffickers, teach this?
There is no intention of safety, because safety undermines profits. Just look at the numbers of women who have had to be taken by ambulance from the Planned Parenthood in St. Louis (just shy of 80 in the last ten years). Overall, we know Planned Parenthood betrays women, especially by lying to them through extremist curriculum. Students for Life Northwest Regional Coordinator Karlie Lodjic, stated,
“It was very clear that this curriculum was intended to push a certain ideology on the students. This ideology is one that suggests that as long as sex is consensual, students should experiment away; that contraceptives and abortion are morally permissible and that everything about one’s identity, though subjective, should be accepted by all.”
While this is great news that the Battle Ground district kept Planned Parenthood out, this is not the end. Planned Parenthood will continue to promote extremist ideology that will never be accepted by a majority of Americans. Lodjic also remarks, “Planned Parenthood has pushed for curricula like this in our schools for a long time because the more people think this way, the more business they get. Clearly, parents in Battle Ground are fed up with schools taking over their roles as the moral instructors of their own family.”
