“We always knew that the abortion industry really didn’t care about women’s health, but this lawsuit proves it again,” said SFLA’s Kristan Hawkins. “Leaders in Texas and other states have called for abortion vendors to cease operations so that life-saving equipment can be used to address the coronavirus crisis. But as the rest of the country fights to save lives, Planned Parenthood runs to court to end lives.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (3-26-2020)– In light of the lawsuit filed by Planned Parenthood and its allies in Texas to force the state to allow abortions at this time of public health crisis from the coronavirus, Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins made the following statement:

“From Roe v. Wade in the 1970s, a case that also started in Texas, until today, abortion vendors are sticking with their go-to strategy — do an end run around voters and elected officials to get to activist judges. The Governor of Texas has asked that at this time of crisis, scarce medical resources go to actual healthcare centers and that the always non-essential abortions be delayed. That’s the right call for women’s health as well as the health of the people of Texas, especially in light of the reports of shortages of personal protection equipment.”

Students for Life has been calling on the Pro-Life Generation across the country to contact their governors, asking them to shut down abortion vendors to help #StoptheSpread of coronavirus and so that their taxpayer-funded medical supplies can be donated to local hospitals and clinics providing victim care. Learn more here. Already, almost 6,000 people have responded.
