Pro-Lifers Still Aren’t Welcome In New York, Even When They Provide Free Health Care

In 2014, New York’s pretend Catholic Governor Andrew Cuomo said that pro-lifers and conservatives were not welcome in his state.

He stated, in speaking of legislation,  “Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”

And now, as the coronavirus wrecks his state, the Mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio, is concerned that pro-life Christians are coming into his city to provide free healthcare and social services.

So what’s this devious organization that seeks to help fight the coronavirus? None other than Samaritan’s Purse, an organization that has at its mission, “providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the Church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Obviously, we’re being sarcastic here. Samaritan’s Purse is an amazing organization, and Mayor de Blasio needs to be a responsible leader and embrace organizations that want to help his city.

But he’s not.

The Blaze reports that de Blasio is using taxpayer-funded resources to monitor the Samaritan’s Purse, because they hold Christian beliefs like opposing abortion and gay marriage.

They report, “Evangelist Franklin Graham’s charity organization, Samaritan’s Purse, opened up a temporary tent hospital in Central Park to help treat patients infected with COVID-19, but New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio doesn’t trust the organization not to discriminate against LGBTQ patients, FaithWire reported. Samaritan’s Purse set up a facility with 68 beds for the coronavirus patients, an attempt to ease the burden of overwhelmed hospitals in New York City. De Blasio expressed distrust that the organization would treat LGBTQ people equally, and reportedly sent city staffers to the site to monitor the situation.”

Seriously?

How many times have we heard that pro-lifers don’t care about people once they are born. But, we have pro-life Christians who are taking care of some of the most vulnerable people, and their radically pro-abortion Mayor is upset because their staff and volunteers are asked to abide by a Christian code of conduct.

Mayor de Blasio’s actions are disgusting and disturbing. And people will suffer if Samaritan’s Purse is kicked out of the city.
