Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has named  Sen. Kamala Harris as his running mate, forming a thoroughly pro-abortion ticket, the likes of which we’ve never seen.  Through both Biden and Harris are strongly pro-abortion, the latter’s record on life is perhaps even more disturbing.   

This isn’t something new; Harris is a time-tested abortion supporter long before Biden tapped her to be his Vice President.    

As California Attorney General in 2016, Harris raided the home of Center for Medical Progress’ David Daleiden to take unreleased footage of Daleiden’s investigative research on Planned Parenthood’s fetal body part trafficking.  Not only did the unwarranted search violate Daleiden’s civil rights, but Harris ordered it in response to Planned Parenthood asking her to make sure the footage never went public. At the time, Students for Life hosted an entire campaign and series of rallies to expose this abusive behavior called “Korrupt Kamala.” 

Then in 2018, Harris infamously called out Brian Buescher — a Nebraska federal district-court nominee — for being a member of the Catholic fraternal organization the Knights of Columbus because they were passionately pro-life. Quoting the Knight’s leader — Carl Anderson — to Buescher, Harris mentioned the organization’s stance that abortion is “the killing of the innocent on a massive scale.” Ignoring the destructive practice she had just referred to, Harris followed simply by asking Buescher, “Were you aware that the Knights of Columbus opposed a woman’s right to choose when you joined the organization?” 

Today, Harris says she wants to codify Roe v. Wade as a federal law to repealing the Hyde Amendment protecting pro-life taxpayers.  She supports abortion up to 20 weeks and voted against a bill that would protect babies born alive after failed abortions. In 2019, Buzzfeed News reported that Harris’ campaign said codifying Roe “‘simply … isn’t enough’; states could still pass restrictive laws, which would then have to be challenged by courts.”  This stance led to Harris approving a plan to prevent states from placing abortion restrictions without federal approval.

With an administration as radically pro-abortion as Biden and Harris in office, this would basically place nearly impossible layers of red-tape to go through for pro-life laws like the “Heartbeat Bill” to be approved.  

“Sen. Kamala Harris has already proved that she will use any legal authority available to her to target pro-life Americans …” said Students for Life’s President Kristan Hawkins in response to Biden’s announcement.  “Abortion was always going to be an issue in this election, but the stakes just got higher.”

There’s a lot on the line for pro-life supporters this upcoming election.  Americans need to be aware of how their vote counts toward protecting women, preborn children, and all the men and women who work to defend them through the pro-life mission.
